Laser Vision Correction

Vision correction surgery, also known as refractive surgery, is any eye procedure which aims to reduce one's dependence on spectacles, contact lenses or other visual aids. Common conditions which can be successfully treated today include myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia (loss of near vision after age 40). Although historically associated only with laser-based corneal surgeries such as LASIK and PRK, today, vision correction surgery also encompasses intraocular procedures such as cataract and clear lens-replacement with premium intraocular lenses (Restor, ReZoom, and Crystalens) as well as phakic IOL's and implantable contact lenses (Verisyse and Visian IOL's).
