Dr. Harvey A. Lincoff, MD honored by the Retina Research Foundation to deliver the Charles L. Schepens, MD Lecture in Atlanta

Weill Cornell ophthalmologist and internationally-recognized retinal detachment expert Dr. Harvey A. Lincoff, MD was honored by the Retina Research Foundation to deliver the first Charles L. Schepens, MD Lecture during the 2008 American Academy of Ophthalmology Retina Subspecialty Day in Atlanta. Dr. Lincoff's lecture entitled "The Evolution of Retinal Surgery: A Personal Story" recounted a life-long perspective on the successful development of surgery for retinal detachment, and was filled with wit and insight. Dr. David Parke, MD, President of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, introduced Dr. Lincoff and stated that this lectureship would become the main event at the Retina Subspecialty Day in all future years, and that the profession was greatly honored to have Dr. Lincoff as its inaugural recipient. Dr. Alice McPherson, President of the Retina Research Foundation, and Drs. Felix Sabates and Lionel Chisholm, past and current Presidents of the Schepens International Society, hosted a dinner in honor of Dr. Lincoff in which the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Schepens was recounted. They honored Dr. Lincoff with presentation of a beautiful gold medal struck to commemorate the lecture.
