Dr. Donald J. D'Amico Receives the Prestigious Taylor R. Smith Gold Medal from the New England Ophthalmological Society

Dr. Donald J. D'Amico, Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and a world renowned vitreoretinal surgeon received the prestigious Taylor R. Smith Gold Medal and delivered the 2008 Taylor R. Smith Lecture at the 721st meeting of the New England Ophthalmological Society in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. D'Amico was honored for his prodigious contributions to the field of vitreoretinal disease – including his seminal work in pharmaco-toxicology, diabetes-related retinal problems, endophthalmitis, AIDS-related retinitis, lasers in ophthalmology, and innovative vitreoretinal surgical techniques.
